Yamaha Raptor 700

Our Raptor 700 stage 1 kit is a stock bore and valve size engine kit. We do replace the stock piston with our 12.5-1 compression ratio CP Piston kit.

We port the cylinder head and contour the valve seats with stock valves. Our porting and valve changes can increase intake air flow approximately 30 cubic feet per minute. If all components are correct and air velocity is within proper parameters a 30 cfm flow gain is worth about 13 hp.  Our heads are carefully ported to keep optimum velocities and designed to keep fuel partials suspended in the air stream. Each head is ported to match the other engine components and needs of the customer.  Each head is special, we do not use the one size fits all CNC approach to engine building.

Cam shaft selection is critical to each engine kit. We use Web or Megacycle cams depending on combination.  Because of the huge air flow gains accomplished by our porting we can utilize a cam with much more lift and duration than stock. To accommodate the big cam shaft we also clearance the rocker arm to clear the cam lobes. We control the valve train with the highest quality valve springs and we measure and set up each head with the correct valve spring pressures. It is critical to make sure the springs have the correct spring tensions and that there are proper clearances between the spring cap and valve stem as well as between valve and piston.

An important component in this kit is our bored throttle body. We increase the throttle bore 2mm at the butterfly valve and  taper the bore to the intake port. We also modify the throttle shaft to further increase air flow. The air box also must be modified to unshroud the air filter as much as possible to feed air to this engine.

The ignition curve is much improved with the DynaTek CDI box. The improved curve is essential to performance on the Raptor. Fuel management is controlled with a Dynojet Power Commander.

To finish the kit off we use either the DMC or Barker Exhaust Systems. The increased flow rates require significantly higher volume exhaust systems. The DMC and Barker megaphone system are the only systems we have tested that are adequate.

Yamaha Raptor 730

Our Raptor 730 kit is a 105.5 mm bore big bore kit. We replace the stock cylinder with our Big Bore

Cylinder. This is not a sleeve kit but a complete cylinder with state of the art Nikasil plated bore. We do however also offer sleeve kits if you prefer. We increase compression with our 12.5-1 compression ratio CP Big Bore Piston.

We port the cylinder head and install larger diameter intake and exhaust valves. Our porting and valve changes can increase intake air flow nearly 40 cubic feet per minute. If all components are correct and air velocity is within proper parameters a 40 cfm flow gain is worth about 17 hp.  Our head are carefully ported to keep optimum velocities and designed to keep fuel  partials suspended in the air stream. Each head is ported to match the other engine components and needs of the customer.  Each head is special, we do not use the one size fits all CNC approach to engine building.

An important component in this kit is increasing the throttle body size with a replacement 54mm Billet throttle body , Intake track and air filter. This kit replaces the air box and we use a higher capacity injector.

For milder build we also can bore the stock throttle body. We increase the throttle bore 2mm at the butterfly valve and taper the bore to the intake port. We also modify the throttle shaft to further increase air flow. The air box also must be modified to unshroud the air filter as much as possible to feed air to this engine.

Yamaha Raptor 800

Our Raptor 800 kit is a 105.5 mm bore , 92mm stroke big bore stroker kit. We replace the stock cylinder with our Big Bore cylinder. This is not a sleeve kit but a complete cylinder with state of the art Nikasil plated bore. We increase compression with our 12.5-1 compression ratio CP Big Bore stroker Piston. We also include stronger chrome moly cylinder head bolts for increased reliability. The stroke on your crank is increased to 92mm and we use a 133mm Crank works connecting rod. Crank is balanced and welded.

We port the cylinder head and install larger diameter intake and exhaust valves. Our porting and valve changes can increase intake air flow over 40 cubic feet per minute. If all components are correct and air velocity is within proper parameters a 40 cfm flow gain is worth about 17 hp.

To accommodate the taller cam lobes, we also clearance the rocker arm to clear the cam lobes. We control the valve train with the highest quality valve springs and we measure and set up each head with the correct valve spring pressures. It is critical to make sure the springs have the correct spring tensions and that there are proper clearances between the spring cap and valve stem as well as between valve and piston.

For best results we upgrade to a 58mm billet throttle body. We also include a higher capacity injector. The stock air box is replaced with a much better flowing intake track and K&N filter.

The ignition curve is much improved with the DynaTek CDI box. The  Fuel management is controlled with a DynoJet Power Commander.

To finish the kit off we use either the DMC or Barker Exhaust Systems. The increased flow rate requires significantly higher volume exhaust systems. The DMC and Barker megaphone system are the only systems we have tested that are adequate.
